Lobster Place Wholesale Weekend Update 12/4/15-12/7/15 December 03 2015 Posted in
Here's the latest news from our seafood purchasers to get you ready for the weekend:
Lobster production remains consistent and prices are DOWN for the coming week. Although prices are relatively low for the moment, they'll start creeping up over the next few weeks as demand will continue to increase as we get closer to the holidays. In the meantime, we're looking good on all sizes of lobster with plenty of product arriving at our warehouse for the weekend.
Availability on Wild Halibut has been spotty lately as the season is coming to a close and we will NOT have any available for the weekend. Not to worry though, we have plenty of Sterling Farmed Halibut coming in and available as a substitute. If you're not familiar with Sterling Halibut, here's a brief rundown abut the product... The fish are grown in the cold, clear, deep fjords of Ryfylke in the southwestern part of Norway. The ideal environmental conditions in this area produce an excellent quality Halibut that is high in Omega 3 fatty acids and rich in vitamins and proteins. It's a versatile fish that is perfect for grilling, frying, poaching, or baking.
With the exception of Wild Halibut, we're in good shape on North Atlantic Groundfish with the following varieties arriving for the weekend... Pollock and Hake landed in Chatham, MA on F/V Constance Sea, Monkfish and Skate Wing landed in Chatham, MA on F/V Pilgrim, Day-boat Icelandic Cod, and Sterling Farmed Halibut.
We're looking good across the board on Mid-Atlantic Fish with a solid amount of Wild Striped Bass, Black Bass, Blackfish, Golden Tilefish, Jumbo Fluke, Bluefish, and Porgies coming in tonight and available for delivery this weekend.
We're also in good shape on Southern Fish with plenty of American Red Snapper, Red Grouper, Fresh Mahi Mahi, Spanish Mackerel, and Catfish coming in tonight and available for delivery tomorrow.
We also got in some beautiful Mako Shark this morning that was landed off the coast of Florida. $5.90/LB NET Weight.
We're in good shape on Salmon and Trout for the weekend with fresh shipments of Organic King Salmon, Aurora Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, Scottish Salmon, Organic Fjord Steelhead, Red Meat Irish Trout, Brook Trout, and Arctic Char coming in tonight and available for delivery tomorrow.
We're also looking good on Fresh Crabmeat with a solid amount of Fresh Maine All Leg (Peekytoe), Fresh Jonah Combo, Fresh Jonah Cocktail Claws, Fresh Blue Lump, and Fresh Blue Jumbo Lump arriving at our warehouse tonight.
We received an update from our friends at Hollander & DeKoning earlier this week regarding repairs to their facility following the unfortunate fire that destroyed their operations about two weeks ago. They expect to be back online and harvesting mussels again early next week and hope to have a fresh shipment to us by next weekend. In the meantime, we'll have plenty of PEI and Chatham Blue Mussels available as substitutes for the weekend.
Just a heads up that we won't be receiving our shipment of Fresh Hamachi until late tomorrow morning after the AM trucks have left, so if you need some for tomorrow it will be going out on the afternoon truck.
We've had a heavy run on California Uni the past couple of days and product is petty limited and probably will NOT be available for weekend. Not to worry though, we have plenty of Maine Uni coming in and available as a substitute.
Also, our caviar supplier sent us a bit too much Trout Roe today so we're running a special this weekend to move out the product. $14/PC (100g/Jar). Take advantage of this great price while you can!!
Specialty Items that we'll have on hand for the weekend include Razor Clams, Live Diver Scallops, Maine Uni, Vana (frozen Maine Uni tongues), Fresh Spanish Dover Sole, Fresh Spanish Turbot, Fresh Portuguese Sardines, and Tuna Bottarga.
Also looking good for the weekend are Dry Sea Scallops, Steamer Clams, Red Mullet, Fresh Rock Shrimp, Fresh Georgia 16/20 Head-off Shrimp, Tuna, Swordfish, Fresh Squid, Branzino, Dorade, and Live Oysters (see lineup above).
