2lb and larger hard shell lobsters extremely hard to come by right now.  We have 1.75 pounders available for those of you looking for a larger lobster.  The prices of the limited amounts of 2's and 3's we are seeing continue to climb.

Jumbo Black Sea Bass landings are few and quantities are extremely low, driving prices through the roof.  There are 1-2lb fish available.  A more reasonable option is Wild Striped Bass.  New York boats are finally landing stripers and the price is good, these are a great value right now!  Other items that are down in price are Fresh Mahi Mahi and Jumbo Fluke.

Red Snapper is very tight right now, we are only seeing a few landings per day.

With respect to Ground Fish, looks like we're in another week of limited Pollock.  We are seeing fish but quantities are down compared to usual availability. Prices are way up, rendering Hake the better option.

Tuna prices are down this week.  We are seeing beautiful local product caught off of Maine in the Gulf Stream.  Our pristine #1 Tunas are bright red with a nice fat content.  But don't forget about Tuna 2+.  If you are not using tuna for sushi, a nice cut of beautiful 2+ tuna loin may be just right for your application.

Ground fish varieties, such as Cod, Hake, Pollock, Skate Wing, and Monkfish Tails, are notorious for fluctuating on a daily basis, in terms of price and availability.  While we are seeing a good amount of Large Cod and fair amounts of Large Hake,Pollock remains tight and expensive.  The price has held firm
and product has been limited through the beginning of the week.  I will have a better idea of the weekend Pollock outlook by tomorrow.  If you are willing to take Cod or Hake instead of Pollock, I recommend doing so.

Mid-Atlantic fish is looking good.  We have plenty of Jumbo Fluke and the price is down.  We are also finally seeing a good amount of Wild Striped Bass, some of which are locally landed right here in New York!  Large and Jumbo Black Sea Basscontinue to be a problem.  Fish is limited and extremely expensive.  We are getting limited product but we recommend you take Red Snapper as an alternative.

Fish out of the South has remained fairly stable.  Red Grouper is in good supply.  We are seeing a slight decrease in landings of Domestic American Red Snapper this week but I expect us to be able to source enough 2-4 and 4-6 pound fish for the remainder of the week and weekend.  Fresh Mahi Mahi is now available.

Wellfleet Select Oysters at $0.85 each!
Grown and harvested in the estuaries of Wellfleet Harbor, these large oysters offer a medium-high salinity and a crisp finish.  3-3.5 inches in length, this is a steal!

Fresh Pre-cut D-trimmed Chilean Salmon Fillets now available!
For those of you looking for a more economically friendly salmon option, we are currently offering 3-4lb Pre-cut Chilean Salmon Fillets.  These fillets are D-trimmed, which is considered the highest meat-yielding trim.  In other words...you are getting almost all meat and no waste!

Quinault Coho Salmon is now available!
The Wild King Salmon season is coming to a close.  The fish are swimming into the estuaries to mate causing the quality of meat to be sacrificed.  For this reason, we will no longer be bringing in the Alaskan Head-on Troll Kings.  However when one door closes another always opens, and so is the way with fresh fish! The Quinault River Coho Salmon season has begun, and we expect to see strong runs of this species through October.  These special coho salmon are fished along the central coast of the Quinault River by members of the Quinault Indian Nation, which includes the Quinault Indians as well as five other coastal tribes.  All fish are closely monitored, bled and iced immediately after retrieval, and processed at a plant located only minutes away from the river, right on the reservation!  The fish we have in the house right now are 6-9lb each.  We may have larger 9lb + fish available next week.  For information about this product please reach out to your salesman or email us at sales@lobsterplace.com.

Massachusetts Wild Striped Bass Season has officially ended!
The ending of the Wild Striped Bass season in Massachusetts was announced on Sunday night.  While New York and the Mid-Atlantic are open, there have not been many landings and most of the stripers we were seeing were coming from Massachusetts area.  Expect fish to be very limited to unavailable this week.  We will keep you posted!

HARD SHELL LOBSTERS DISCLAIMER:
Hard Shell Lobsters, particularly chix, quarters and halves, are currently very difficult to procure and very expensive.  Closures in Canada and exports to Asia are the main culprits for the shortage.  We can expect product to be tight for the next month, at least.  In response to this shortage, we are bringing in FIRM SHELL LOBSTERS.  Firm Shell lobsters will be automatically substituted for any hard shell orders that cannot be filled.  If you would rather we not substitute your hard shells with firm shells, please let us know by reaching out to your sales rep or emailing us at sales@lobsterplace.com.

Red Snapper is very limited as not a lot of fish are being landed.  We do have beautiful 2-4 American Reds coming in tomorrow, but we will be out of 1-2 and
4-6 pounders.  Black Sea Bass is an excellent substitute!

The Tuna market has tightened up this week.  It appears that boats are landing a lot of small fish, so loins could be a bit smaller than what you are used to.

Don't forget about our beautiful Fjord Steelhead Ocean Trout from Norway.   This is an excellent fish for both raw and cooked applications.  The meat is fatty and flavorful, very similar to that of the Aurora Salmon.
