Where is it farmed? Branzini is farmed throughout the Mediterranean Sea, primarily off the coast of Greece and Turkey. There are also farms in the Canary Islands.
How is it farmed? Branzini is farmed in net pens along Mediterranean coastal waters.
Is it sustainable? Net pens allow for natural exchange of water through the pens thereby limiting disease and pollution build up within the pens. There are minor risks of disease and parasites affecting wild populations through this natural release of water. There are also concerns with escapes of farmed Branzini affecting the diversity of wild populations.
