How is it fished?  Wild shrimp are caught through the use of trawls.

Where does The Lobster Place Source it? The Lobster Place procures Fresh Domestic Shrimp primarily through suppliers in the New Fulton Fish Market.

Is it sustainable?  Wild-caught shrimp in the U.S Gulf of Mexico and U.S South Atlantic are short lived and reproduce rapidly, making them somewhat resistant to intense fishing.  High levels of by-catch are associated with trawls used to fish shrimp.  U.S. shrimp trawlers are required by law to use by-catch reduction devices to limit the amount of by-catch, and must carry a turtle excluder device to release sea turtles.  Despite these measures, significant by-catch still results.
