Is It Wild or Farmed? Hard Shell Clams are wild caught.

Where is it fished? Hard Shell Clams are found in Western North Atlantic coastal areas from the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence to Cape Hatteras, NC. The Lobster Place primarily sources Hard Shell Clams from Long Island to Maine.

How is it fished?  Hard Shell Clams are primarly caught through the use of dredges.

Where does The Lobster Place Source it? The Lobster Place procures Scallops primarily through distributors like JP's Shellfish.

Is it sustainable?  While little is known about the size of hard clam populations along the western Atlantic coast, Hard Shell Clam populations are considered to be stable.  Hand raking is the preferred method of harvesting as it causes much less seafloor disturbance than hydraulic clam dredges.
